The Senior Technical Artist is a 3d art generalist, with strong aesthetic, problem solving, technical, and communication skills.
The Senior Technical Artist is part R&D artist, part tools programmer and is responsible for proposing and demonstrating
creative solutions to challenging visual problems, as well as working to maximize the production effeciency of the entire art team
through pipeline and tools improvements.
+ Research and implement artist tools tools for use in Maya
+ Develop improvements to art pipelines, focusing on reducing artist iteration time and maximizing visual polish
+ Prototype and pitch creative and engine-efficient art solutions for complex visual problems
+ Work closely with programmers to develop artist friendly technologies and prioritize feature roll-out
+ Debug pipeline issues as needed, and propose solutions to cleanly solve them in the future
+ Support and train art staff in new techniques
+ 3+ years experience in a technical artist role
+ Excellent understanding of Maya from all aspects of 3D (modeling, texturing, shading, lighting, and rendering)
+ Expert mel scripting skills
+ Strong understanding of general artistic aesthetics
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Ability filter through a diverse feedback from artists and programmers and propose the most effective solution
+ Ability to prioritize schedule and implementation of technology in order of largest benefit to team and project
+ Passion for and broad knowledge of console games, with an ability to critically analyze them
+ Strong technical and aesthetic understanding of FX a HUGE plus
+ Shader programming experience (Cg/HLSL)
+ Experience with other 3d production tools (Zbrush, Photoshop, various post and compositing packages, etc)
+ Any additional programming skills are a plus
